  • Job Summary

    Reporting to the Shift Manager this position has primary responsibility for keeping merchandise organized and ready to ship to customers as well as branch locations. The Distribution Center pickers select merchandise sold by inside or outside sales team, or at the branch retail store locations.  The Distribution Center packers stack and pile goods into their correct containers and prepare them for shipment.

    Major Responsibilities

    • Reads pick tickets; prioritizing most critical orders and verifies that item picked matches the pick tickets.
    • Pick and pack orders
    • Packs goods following a specific set of instructions/procedures properly seals and labels each container
    • Sorts and organizes merchandise for easy access
    • Building and wrapping pallets. Loading pallets with forklift onto trucks. (Use of plastic banders)
    • Communicates issues to supervisor for resolution
    • Ensures that Distribution Center is kept orderly and clean during production and at end of shift
    • Data entry of shipping information. Calling carriers to schedule pickups.
    • Inspecting products
    • Ability to work independently, take initiative and responsibility in a very fast paced environment.
    • Other duties as assigned
    • **Attention to detail is extremely important for this role

    Minimum Requirements

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • 1-3 years of prior distribution center experience
    • Experience with scanning equipment.
    • Experience using shipping programs. WorldShip experience is a MUST, ShipEasy is preferred.
    • Ability to operate a sit-down forklift, lift trucks and ride on pallet jacks
    • Ability to prioritize work and perform multiple tasks
    • Must have customer service mindset when dealing with internal and external customers
    • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills including speaking, reading and writing in the English language.
    • Proficiency in use of computer

    Essential functions:

    • Ability to stand on concrete floor for long periods of time
    • Must be able to work in various climate conditions such as cold, heat, humidity for long periods of time
    • Ability to crouch, stoop, kneel, crawl and twist for lifting
    • Ability to safely lift up to 100 lbs
    • Ability to review and interpret computer images and written documents
    • Analytical ability including basic math skills
    • Communication skills including speaking, reading and writing

    Equipment Used:

    • Telephone
    • Bar code scanners/RF scanner
    • Scales (counting and weight)
    • Sit down, lift truck and ride on forklifts
    • Computer, keyboard, copier, scanner and mouse

     

    Additional Comments:

     

    Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends as needed.  Excellent attendance, punctuality, and a customer service mindset are mandatory.
